FAQ

Questions, answered.

If yours isn't here, call or send us a note. We like talking chickens.

Can I keep chickens where I live?

It depends on your address. Backyard-hen rules on the Treasure Coast vary city by city and county by county, and HOAs can be stricter still. Tell us your address and we'll point you to the right office before you spend a dollar.

Can you build to my city's size and height limits?

Yes. The Roost and The Signature are designed to stay under 6 feet tall with compact footprints, which fits the limits many local codes set. We lay out the build to the rules for your address.

How do you keep predators out?

Half-inch welded hardware cloth, never chicken wire, plus a buried anti-dig skirt, two-step latches and an automatic door that closes at dusk. Raccoons, opossums, snakes and hawks are all planned for.

Won't it be an oven in July?

Florida coops need to breathe. We build in ridge and soffit venting, a reflective metal roof and screened windows, and a solar exhaust fan is available.

How long does the wood last in our humidity?

We frame with pressure-treated lumber, use galvanized and coated hardware, a metal roof and a raised, sealed floor. Paint or stain adds another layer of protection.

What about hurricanes?

Every coop is anchored with a tie-down kit. When a named storm is coming, we recommend bringing your hens into the garage.

Can you match my house?

Yes. Choose natural wood, stain, or one, two or three paint colors, or we'll match your home's exact paint.

What does delivery cost?

Nothing extra. Delivery and placement are included in every coop price across our Treasure Coast service area. If you'd rather pick it up yourself, take $150 off.

I want silkies or bantams. Does that matter?

Yes, so tell us at the start. Silkies can't fly or hop up, so they need low roosts, low nest boxes and gentle ramps, and bantams fit more birds in the same space. We build for your birds from the first cut, and it can't be changed halfway through.

How does the deposit work?

Before you pay anything, you approve a written build sheet that spells out exactly what you asked for and exactly what will be delivered. Your deposit then locks in your build slot and pays for materials. Every payment is receipted.

Will I see it being built?

Yes. We send progress photos at every stage, and you're welcome to stop by the shop.

What's the warranty?

Six months on anything structural and three months on the finish, starting on delivery day. Parts like solar fans and automatic doors carry their maker's warranty, and we handle that for you.

Do you offer maintenance?

Yes. The Coop Care Plan is $500 a year: we come out once a year to deep clean and pressure wash the coop and touch up the paint. Repairs beyond touch-ups are quoted before any work starts.

Do you remove old coops?

Yes. We tear down and haul away old coops and sheds, landfill fees included, and leave the spot raked.

Will my HOA approve it?

We'll give you an approval packet with a rendering, dimensions, color samples and a site plan to submit.

Let's put a coop in your yard.
